Slovak Police to Tighten Screw on Internet Criminals

Bratislava, May 6 (TASR) – The Slovak police have allocated more officers to the department combating cyber crime in order to facilitate the monitoring of the internet and actively enter illegal activities to tighten the screw on internet criminals, Police Corps president Tibor Gaspar has announced.

Meanwhile, the cyber crime police department should swell further.

“We’ve increased the number of staff to current some 30 officers, while another department should be added,” said Gaspar.

The Police Corps president earlier this week reported on the detention of two people from Bratislava involved in the sale of arms, ammunition and drugs on a computer network known as the darknet. The police also secured their server, which was used for running a darknet marketplace, and more than €200,000 in the virtual currency bitcoin.
