Vandals Lever Out Statue of Napoleonic Soldier in Centre of Bratislava

Bratislava, September 10 (TASR) – Unknown vandals in the night of Friday and Saturday levered out and torn down a statue of a Napoleonic soldier, a tourist attraction located on Bratislava’s Main Square in front of the French Embassy, TASR learnt on Monday.

The city police on Saturday morning secured the crime scene and informed the Old Town local authority, which subsequently carried the statue away for repair.

“Nobody needs to be concerned, the statue is safe and we believe that it will soon return to its proper place,” stated the local authority on a social network.

Another display of vandalism in Slovakia’s capital also made headlines this past weekend, as several bicycles were obviously intentionally damaged within a few hours after a bikesharing service was launched in Bratislava on Friday.
