Motor Journalists: 2016 Car of the Year in Slovakia Is Opel Astra

Bratislava, February 18 (TASR) – The Opel Astra has become the 2016 Car of the Year in Slovakia, as decided by a jury of 15 motor journalists, jury chairman Lubos Kriz informed TASR on Thursday.

The runner-up is the Skoda Superb, while in third place is the Suzuki Vitara.

According to Kriz, this is 18th time that the title has been awarded. It’s a non-commercial one, with no sponsors of any car brand involved.

The candidates for the title are all basic models that were available on the Slovak market in 2015. The jury first picked seven finalists.

The European Car of the Year 2016 title winner will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
