Statistics Office: Slovakia's GDP Up by 3.1 percent Y-o-Y in 4Q16

Bratislava, February 14 (TASR) – Slovakia’s GDP in the fourth quarter of 2016 increased by 3.1 percent on an annual basis, according to a preliminary estimate released by the Statistics Office on Tuesday.

Seasonally adjusted GDP was up by 2.9 percent year-on-year, while the quarter-on-quarter increase amounted to 0.8 percent.

GDP worth €20.943 billion in current prices was produced in Slovakia in 4Q16, up by 3 percent compared to the same period in 2015.

A total of 2.344 million people were employed in 4Q16, an increase of 2.6 percent y-o-y. Meanwhile, seasonally adjusted employment was up by 2.5 percent y-o-y and by 0.6 percent q-o-q.

More detailed data concerning both GDP and employment in Slovakia in the final quarter of last year should be released by the Statistics Office on March 7.
