Stats Office: Average Salary in Industry Up 5.7% Y-o-Y to €984 in January

Bratislava, March 16 (TASR) – The average nominal monthly salary in industry in January 2017 increased on an annual basis by 5.7 percent to reach €984, while the most significant leap in salary was observed in restaurants and pubs – by 11.7 percent to €440, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Thursday.

Other year-on-year increases were seen in retail – by 6.9 percent to €648, in transport and warehousing – 6.6 percent to €860, in selected market services – 6.4 percent to €876, in information and communication technologies – 4.7 percent to €1,778, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles – 4.4 percent to €920, in wholesale – 3.8 percent to €891 and in construction – 1.9 percent to €630.  Conversely, a y-o-y drop was recorded in accommodation – by 6.4 percent to €642.

The average real monthly salaries were up in January in restaurants and pubs by 10.9 percent y-o-y, in retail – 6.2 percent, in transport and warehousing – 5.9 percent, in selected market services – 5.7 percent, in industry – 5 percent, in information and communication technologies – 4 percent, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles – 3.7 percent, in wholesale – 3.1 percent, and in construction – 1.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the average real monthly salary only went down in accommodation, specifically by 7.1 percent y-o-y.
