Stats Office: Average Salary in Industry Up by 1.9% Y-o-Y in December

Bratislava, February 13 (TASR) – The average nominal monthly salary in industry in December 2016 increased on an annual basis by 1.9 percent to reach €1,065, while the most significant leap in the national economy was observed in the sale and repair of motor vehicles – by 17 percent to €1,115, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Monday.

Other year-on-year increases were seen in accommodation – 12 percent to €727, in selected market services – 6.9 percent to €966, in retail – 6.1 percent to €674, in restaurants and pubs – 5.7 percent to €406, in wholesale – 4.9 percent to €1,004, and in transport and warehousing – 4.5 percent to €958.

Conversely, y-o-y drops were recorded in information and communication technologies – 9 percent to €1,880, and in construction – 3.3 percent to €700.

As for the whole of 2016 compared to 1015, monthly salaries were up in the sale and repair of motor vehicles by 7.2 percent to €942, in accommodation – 6.3 percent to €673, in wholesale – 5.8 percent to €879, in selected market services – 5.1 percent to €869, in retail – 5.1 percent to €635, in transport and warehousing – 5 percent to €856, in restaurants and pubs – 4.2 percent to €395, in industry – 3.1 percent to €995, and in construction – 3 percent to €651.

At the same time the monthly salaries in information and communication technologies were down by 2.1 percent to reach €1,747.
