Stats Office: Revenues in Industry Down 3.7 Pecent Y-o-Y in April

Bratislava, June 13 (TASR) – Revenues for own activities and goods posted a month-on-month rise only in information and communication services in April 2017, going up 2.1 percent, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, m-o-m decreases were recorded in the following sectors: in transport and warehousing – by 5.8 percent, in manufacturing – 3.7 percent, in construction – 3.1 percent, and in selected market services – 2.5 percent.

Revenues in the industrial sector as a whole fell by 2.6 percent year-on-year in April 2017. This was largely due to decreases in mining and quarrying – by 5.7 percent, in manufacturing – 3.5 percent, in water supplies, sewage water disposal and waste disposal – 3.4 percent and in supplies of electricity, gas, steam and cold air – 3.4 percent. Revenues in construction posted a growth for the second consecutive month, going up 0.4 percent in April.

Total revenues in industry over the first four months of 2017 increased by 4.8 percent y-o-y due to growth in supplies of electricity, gas, steam and cold air by 10.3 percent, mining and quarrying by 4.5 percent, and in manufacturing by 3.9 percent. Conversely, revenues in water supplies, sewage water disposal and waste disposal services shrank by 4.7 percent. Four-month revenues in construction dwindled by 2.2 percent y-o-y.
