Foreign Minister Lajcak Steps Down

Bratislava, November 29 (TASR) – Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak (a Smer-SD nominee) decided to tender his resignation over Thursday’s parliamentary resolution to reject the UN Global Compact on Migration, TASR learnt from ministry spokesman Boris Gandel on the same day.

“We’ll release details related to this move after his (Lajcak’s) talk with Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini and President Andrej Kiska,” added the spokesman.

Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) refused to comment for the time being. “The Prime Minister will make a statement once the resignation motion is delivered to him,” TASR was told by Prime Minister’s spokesperson Patricia Macikova.
