Zvolen, March 11 (TASR) – The extra-parliamentary Christian Democrats (KDH) are ready to cooperate in the November regional elections with parties from the parliamentary Opposition, KDH chairman Alojz Hlina said at a press conference following a KDH Council meeting in Zvolen (Banska Bystrica region) on Saturday.
Hlina announced that KDH is set to hold talks on Tuesday with Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and OLaNO-NOVA, which have already signed an agreement on running together in November.
While KDH isn’t strong enough to place candidates for governors in all eight regions, it would like to present hopefuls in Presov and Zilina regions. In the latter, KDH wants to back MP Igor Janckulik (Most-Hid, elected for Siet/Network). Nonetheless, Hlina didn’t want to reveal the name of KDH’s candidate for governor in Presov region.
“As for Presov region, we’ve got ‘crème de la crème’ in the house – the best of what Slovakia could get in the post of governor. Nevertheless, we won’t say the name at the moment, as the related processes still haven’t been concluded,” said Hlina, adding that nominations in other regions should be subject to talks with other opposition parties.
