Bratislava, January 29 (TASR) – Interior Minister Denisa Sakova (Smer-SD) is not at such liberty to make decisions as she purports to be, MP Gabor Grendel (opposition’s Ordinary People party/OLaNO) stated on Tuesday.
Grendel spoke in response to the fact that before making her decision on the fate of her advisor and ex-police corps president Tibor Gaspar, Sakova announced she wanted to consult the issue with Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) first.
“Mr. Gaspar is the advisor to the Interior Minister, not Mr. Premier. I don’t know what Mr. Premier has to do with ousting or not ousting the advisor to the Interior Minister,” claimed Grendel, adding that he fails to understand Sakova’s reasoning. He also considers Gaspar’s continued tenure as advisor unacceptable.
In this context, the liberals of SaS ask the authorities to inform the public about the purpose of the information that Gaspar acquired from the police database while screening the late journalist Jan Kuciak shortly before his murder. “We ask the investigator and assigned prosecutor for the murders of Jan Kuciak and Martina Kusnirova to inform the public in line with the Criminal Code about the nature of the information Pavol Vorobjov acquired from the police database on Jan Kuciak, when acting on behalf and to the benefit of then-police corps president Tibor Gaspar,” reads the statement by SaS.
In response, the Special Prosecutor’s Office stated that due to ongoing investigations, it’s impossible to provide any details.
