The two-times Slovak Olympic gold medalist won comfortably in the 7.5-kilometre sprint, leaving behind Finland’s Kaisa Makarainen (by 35.4 seconds) and the Czech Republic’s Veronika Vitkova (by 40.1 seconds). Overall in the World Cup Kuzmina has strengthened her position at the top after nine events, clearly outstripping all the others with a 26-point lead over France’s Justine Braisaz.

Kuzmina was very happy after winning the sprint. “I don’t know what to say, it’s so difficult to believe. I was afraid of the weather, and I prepared myself for it to be difficult. But the snow didn’t come. We managed everything on time, even the fog didn’t fall lower, and the visibility in the shooting range didn’t drop.”
