Sefcovic's Nomination Allegedly Okayed

Brussels, October 1 (TASR-correspondent) – Monday’s hearing of European Commissioner Maros Sefcovic has been successful, with several unnamed sources confirming for TASR that the coordinators, i.e. EP committee heads and representatives of EP factions within committees, have unanimously okayed Sefcovic’s nomination for the post of European Commission vice-chair for interinstitutional relations and foresight.

The committees concerned are those on constitutional affairs (AFCO) and on legal affairs (JURI).

Formal moves will now take place on Tuesday. Committee coordinators will send a confidential letter of recommendation to the Committee Heads Conference, reporting on their decision. The letter will state whether the candidate is suitable to become a commissioner and to carry out the duties assigned to them.
