Kosice Court Decides on Remanding Ukrainian in Extradition Custody

Kosice, July 27 (TASR) – The Kosice Regional Court on Friday decided on changing the custody status for arrested Ukrainian national Volodymyr G., who is suspected of terrorism in Ukraine, from preliminary custody to extradition custody.

Volodymyr G., who has Ukrainian and Hungarian citizenships and a permanent residence in Kosice, was arrested in June by the Slovak police based on a warrant issued by the Ukrainian authorities via Interpol.

The suspect immediately filed an appeal against the verdict, so his case will have to be decided by Slovakia’s Supreme Court.

Apart from terrorism, Volodymyr G. is charged in Ukraine with deliberate bodily harm, death threats, taking hostages, gangsterism, attacking public officials and other crimes allegedly carried out with accomplices in 2014-15.

Volodymyr G. at the court rejected all accusations, claiming that he’s a journalist.
