Danko: I'll Initiate Measures Aimed at Dissolving Far-Right LSNS Party

Bratislava, July 30 (TASR) – Parliamentary Chairman and leader of the co-governing Slovak National Party (SNS) Andrej Danko told a news conference on Monday that he’ll initiate anti-fascist measures targeted at dissolving the parliamentary People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS), asking media to help him with the task.

The measures should be prepared by a special expert commission that would draft legislation leading towards LSNS’s abolition.
“On every working trip I feel ashamed when they ask me about [Marian] Kotleba and his LSNS party. Many foreign officials consider refusing and sometimes refuse to visit the Slovak Parliament due to Kotleba’s party. I would recommend everyone voting for Kotleba today to check him out in a guardsman’s uniform and answer himself whether this man has fulfilled anything he promised in Banska Bystrica region. I don’t understand voter support for Kotleba, just like I don’t understand voter support for [We Are Family leader] Boris Kollar, who has ties with the Mafia,” stated Danko.
The SNS leader assumes that the country has very weak legislation. “Prosecutor-General Jaromir Ciznar appealed to the Supreme Court in this connection last year, but the court hasn’t even set a date yet for a trial regarding scrapping LSNS,” stressed Danko.
Danko views LSNS’s existence as a big problem for Slovakia. “The time is coming when Slovakia will have to change the Penal Code. I’m declaring war on you, Mr. Kotleba, like I did with [previous SNS leader] Jan Slota. If I am to keep serving as parliamentary chairman, I don’t want to feel ashamed abroad because of you,” he added.
