Fico: Kiska Misused State of Republic Address for Partisan Purposes

Bratislava, June 13 (TASR) – President Andrej Kiska with his State of the Republic Address on Wednesday confirmed that he’s an Opposition politician, said former premier and Smer-SD chairman Robert Fico on the same day.

“I stated back during the 2014 presidential election that Kiska would become an opposition politician. His speech was indeed in this very spirit. Only a few months ago he was saying that Slovakia was a successful country, but suddenly it’s become a black hole for him without any future,” said Fico.

According to the former prime minister, Smer-SD had expected some self-reflection from Kiska.

“If anyone speaks about restoring public trust in the state, the courts, police and prosecutors’ offices, they must deal with serious suspicions concerning themselves. He should have said something about how he robbed people in 48 flats in Kysucke Nove Mesto (Zilina region) of their housing, how he robbed a dentist of his land, how he funded his presidential campaign and also something about suspicions concerning VAT,” said Fico, adding that Kiska by the tone of his speech plainly misused the post of president for partisan purposes.
