Activists Distributing 100,000 Manuals for Undecided Voters

Bratislava, February 23 (TASR) – Activists from an initiative called ‘There’s Much to Play for’ have launched a tour of Slovakia with around 100,000 manuals designed for undecided voters to urge them to take part in the March 5 general election, TASR learnt on Tuesday.

According to initiative head Martin Vavrincik, many undecided voters make last minute decisions on whether to vote or not. So, the initiative suggests four simple and practical recommendations on how to decide properly on election day.

The first recommendation is choosing trustworthy candidates. The second criterion is the party’s campaign platform. “It isn’t a sin not to read election programmes; but it is to then say that nobody is offering any solutions or ideas,” said Vavrincik.

If neither individual figures, nor election platforms are convincing enough for these potential voters, they should ask people around them. “People who you know that are well-versed in politics and you trust them enough can give you the best advice,” said Vavrincik.

The fourth point stated in the manual is an information that “not voting means losing the opportunity to influence the country’s course, with the next such opportunity not arising until 2020.”

A turnout of at least 65 percent is what the initiative is hoping to contribute toward. In the 2012 general election, the turnout was 59 percent.
