Almost 80 percent of People Would Vote for Same Party as in March

Bratislava, April 14 (TASR) – Had a general election been held between April 4-7, 78.5 percent of people would have voted for the same party as they chose in the March 5 election, TASR learnt on Thursday.

The poll, carried out by AKO agency on a sample of 1,000 respondents, showed that 18.43 percent of people would have chosen another party, while 2.87 percent were unable to say which party they would have selected.

Concerning particular parties, 93.8 percent of those who voted for the far-right Kotleba-People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) would have done so again. As many as 91.1 percent of original voters would have stuck by Smer-SD, 90.6 percent by the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK), 88 percent by the Slovak National Party (SNS), 86.6 percent by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and 84.3 percent by Most-Hid.

Meanwhile, the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) would have retained 81.1 percent of its voters, We Are Family-Boris Kollar 72 percent, OLaNO-NOVA 64.4 percent and Siet (Network) 30 percent.

The poll also indicated which parties voters would have chosen if they hadn’t voted for the original one. Smer-SD, SaS, LSNS and We are Family voters would have tended to switch to SNS. Original voters of We Are Family would also often have chosen SaS or LSNS. Some original voters of OLaNO-NOVA, Most-Hid, Siet and KDH would now rather vote for SaS. Siet voters would also tend to switch to OLaNO-NOVA, KDH, Smer-SD or We Are Family. Several respondents were undecided, while others would no longer go out to vote.
