Bugar: Governing Coalition Won't Have Joint Presidential Candidate
The current governing coalition probably won’t have a joint presidential candidate, stated chairman of junior governing party Most-Hid Bela Bugar on RTVS’s programme ‘O 5 Minut 12’ (Five Minutes to Twelve) on Sunday, adding that his party will have its own candidate that will be decided on by party bodies in June.
Bugar went on to say that at the last Republican Council the party said that it would have its own candidate, despite the fact that President Andrej Kiska’s decision concerning the future election term wasn’t known yet. Bugar said that there are several potential candidates in Most-Hid, with the party to make a decision at a congress on June 9.
“There’s pressure for the party chairman to be on the list of candidates, as well,” he admitted, adding that on one hand it would be an opportunity to utilise his 28 years of experience in politics. “On the other hand, it should be known that the president must always make compromises that will help the country to go forward,” added Bugar.
