Bratislava Airport Handled 38 percent More Passengers Y-o-Y in 1Q16

Bratislava, April 1 (TASR) – Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport in Bratislava (BTS) handled almost 298,000 passengers in the first three months of 2016, which was a 38-percent increase year-on-year, the airport’s general director Ivan Trhlik announced on Friday.

“If the geopolitical situation doesn’t change significantly, Bratislava Airport is ready to process as many as 2 million passengers in 2016,” said Trhlik.

Meanwhile, the number of flights to and from the airport also rose in the first quarter of this year to reach 4,874 – an increase of 15 percent y-o-y.

The volume of cargo processed by BTS increased by more than 18 percent y-o-y to stand at 5,358 tonnes in 1Q16.

When it came to March alone, Bratislava Airport handled 104,641 passengers, a hike of 27 percent y-o-y.
