Focus: Smer Would Have Won November Election, ahead of SaS & LSNS
Bratislava, November 16 (TASR) – Had a general election taken place in early November, it would have been won by the governing Smer-SD party on 20.9 percent of the votes, ahead of the Opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 12 percent and far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) on 9.8 percent, TASR learnt from Focus agency, which conducted the poll on a sample of 1,012 respondents between November 7-14.
OLaNO would have followed on 9.5 percent of the votes, with We Are Family-Boris Kollar on 8.1 percent. The coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) would have come sixth on 8 percent, followed by the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on 7.7 percent, Most-Hid on 5.9 percent, Progressive Slovakia on 5.3 percent and Together-Civic Democracy on 5 percent. No other party would have managed to clear the 5-percent threshold needed to win representation in Parliament.
According to the poll, Smer-SD would have garnered 34 seats in Parliament, with the other parties obtaining the following number: SaS – 20, LSNS and OLaNO – 16 each, We Are Family and SNS – 13 each, KDH – 12, Most-Hid – 10, and Progressive Slovakia and Together-Civic Democracy – 8 each.
As many as 75.4 percent of the respondents would have gone to the polling stations, while 11.9 percent wouldn’t have voted. The remaining 12.7 percent wouldn’t have known whom to vote for.
