Juncker: No Written Conclusions from Informal EU Summit

Bratislava, September 16 (TASR) – European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker at the informal EU summit in Bratislava on Friday said that he was happy to see the European Council embracing his State of the European Union address delivered in European Parliament a few days ago.

“The fact that the European Council embraced this speech has assured us that we said what was right and the direction we’ve set is correct,” said Juncker.

According to him, the leaders debated specific issues, and their work in the next few months will show the extent to which their opinions overlap.

“It was an informal meeting of 27 (minus Great Britain) member countries – a premiere in the EU’s history – and this is why we haven’t published any written conclusions. It wouldn’t be appropriate, either,” said Juncker.

He added that the European Council approved the outline of his speech in the European Parliament – also approving the digital agenda, which should contribute towards economic growth and the creation of new jobs in Europe.
