Jankovska Leaves Post of Justice Ministry State Secretary
Bratislava, September 3 (TASR) – Justice Ministry State Secretary Monika Jankovska (Smer-SD) announced her imminent resignation from the post at a press conference on Tuesday.
Jankovska added she wants to continue acting as a judge as she sees no reason why she shouldn’t. She did not say whether she would run again for Smer-SD in the upcoming parliamentary election, considering it to be premature. She stated no one had pushed her to resign.
Jankovska explained she was leaving the post of state secretary under pressure affecting her family. “The media-political circus is deeply touching my family, my sons, my mother, who have absolutely nothing to do with politics,” she said. She claims to be lynched by the media. “You wanted my public execution, even through unsupported information and media lynch, so you have it here,” she told journalists.
Jankovska appeared under fire from the Opposition after the police last month secured her mobile phone to investigate her alleged contacts to businessman Marian K., suspected of ordering the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak. Jankovska rejected again on Tuesday any contacts to Marian K.
