Kiska: Every Single Person Who Cares about Slovakia Should Vote

Poprad, March 5 (TASR) – Slovak President Andrej Kiska cast his vote in the general election in his home town of Poprad (Presov region) on Saturday, TASR learnt on the same day

Kiska voted along with his wife and younger son. “I think that every single person that cares about Slovakia should go out and vote today. I’m tense and also interested in how it will turn out. I’ll wait for the first results in the evening,” said Kiska, adding that this is the most important election in a decade.

“This is a tough time for Europe. We’ll see if our country is able to pick out priorities,” stated Kiska, who expressed his wish that the turnout will exceed 60 percent. “I’ve used two out of four preferential votes,” he added. [Voters are allowed to indicate the names of four candidates of their chosen party, thereby potentially moving them up the list and improving their chances of obtaining a seat in parliament. – ed. note]

Kiska will spend the rest of the day with his family in Poprad. “I like to cook, so I’ll make the lunch today. The soup was prepared yesterday, and there’s a giant unfrozen octopus waiting for me in the kitchen, so I’m wondering how I can cook it in the best way. I’ll probably try out one Croatian recipe,” mused Kiska. The whole Kiska family will go to the cinema in the afternoon to watch a fairytale.
