Klub 500: Cabinet Should Cut Tax-levy Burden of Low-income Employees
Bratislava, August 14 (TASR) – The Government should focus on reducing the tax-levy burden imposed on employees with low incomes, Klub 500, an association of companies employing at least 500 people, stated on Tuesday.
The association added that it welcomed the coalition’s efforts to communicate with employers about the issue of lowering the levy burden in Slovakia.
“It was coalition partners’ interest in communicating with employers that has led to the adoption of initial measures partially reducing the tax-levy burden on employees in the form of exempting the 13th and 14th salaries from health insurance levies,” reads the Klub 500 statement, adding that gradually exempting the two extra monthly salaries from health insurance levies, income and social taxes is an important element of the measure.
At the same time the association hopes that the Government will continue with its well-begun dialogue with employers and that this will result in the drafting of measures that will reduce the overall tax-levy burden in the country. “Following the example of neighbouring countries, we see scope mainly for a substantial reduction in the tax-levy burden of low-income groups of employees,” added Klub 500.
