Matovic: OLaNO-NOVA Favours Early Election, Confident of Better Result

Bratislava, March 14 (TASR) – Ordinary People-NOVA (OLaNO-NOVA) would like an early election to be held, said party leader Igor Matovic at a press conference in Bratislava on Monday.

According to the party, it would resolve the deception of voters perpetrated by Smer-SD, Most-Hid, Siet and the Slovak National Party (SNS). “We believe that this kind of fraud will serve to redistribute votes for the right if an early election is held – votes that would go to OLaNO-NOVA and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) now that people know,” according to Matovic. “If an election is to be held in the upcoming months, we will be able to acquire a majority.”

By fraud Matovic suggested that the aforementioned parties had a pre-agreed coalition and now they are only acting like they did not. It’s a well-staged performance, said OLaNO-NOVA. “Last week I received some intel from SNS leader Andrej Danko’s entourage that they’ll be open-minded and incline towards a rightist Government. But later at SNS party congress the party will state reasons for not entering this kind of coalition,” said Matovic. Lipsic labelled the allegedly emerging cabinet as ‘rule of the oligarchs’.

Matovic has called on all members of Most-Hid and Siet to listen to their voters and reject a Government with Smer. If it nevertheless happens, all members of these rightist parties should leave as three Siet members – Miroslav Beblavy, Katarina Machackova and Simona Petrik – have already informed the public of their departure in this event. Matovic offers a seat in the OLaNO-NOVA caucus if they decide to leave.
