Most-Hid: Fresh Election Looming Large Following SNS's Decision

Bratislava, March 12 (TASR) – The Slovak National Party’s (SNS) rejection of the possible “chaos” on the Right, preferring a government with Smer-SD or a caretaker government instead, means that a fresh election is looming large, Most-Hid stated in a press release on Saturday.

“A caretaker government conceded by SNS means a snap election, which would only strengthen extremist elements,” warned Most-Hid.

OLaNO-NOVA also expressed disappointment of the SNS’s decision made at its congress in Tomasov (Bratislava region) earlier in the day. “Nevertheless, SNS still can decide whether it will go along the footprints of [former chairman] Jan Slota, or it will join people in our caucus awarded for their courageous fight against corruption in order to create a government for the people and not for oligarchs in the background,” stated OLaNO-NOVA leader Igor Matovic.

Danko at the SNS congress earlier in the day stated that it seems that only SNS and Smer-SD would be able to guarantee a stable government. When asked whether this statement should have been understood as a definite ‘no’ to a rightist government, Danko said that this means an absolute ‘no’ to any hybrids and chaos. He added that he’s a politician with rightist elements, but SNS would rather opt for a caretaker government than choosing “destruction”.
