Pellegrini Hands Over Upgraded List of New Cabinet Members to Kiska
Bratislava, March 21 (TASR) – Designated Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) on Wednesday morning delivered President Andrej Kiska an upgraded line-up of nominees for government members, TASR learnt on the same day.
Compared to the original list, which was rejected by the president, the new proposal includes only one change on the post of interior minister – instead of Jozef Raz Jr. the post should be filled by incumbent Health Minister Tomas Drucker. Moreover, the empty chair of health minister should be taken over by the current state secretary at the ministry, Andrea Kalavska.
“I express my conviction that there is nothing to prevent the president from announcing when he appoints the new government,” said Pellegrini after meeting Kiska.
Regarding the new interior minister, the designated premier said that Drucker’s job won’t be easy, as the Interior Ministry is a vast and complex state department. “However, at this point he’s the best person with managerial abilities,” said Pellegrini.
Later on Wednesday Kiska is to meet all new minister nominees in Pellegrini’s government. According to the information provided to TASR, Pellegrini’s new cabinet should be appointed on Thursday morning (March 22).
