Poll: Smer-SD Top, Followed by Progressive Slovakia-Together and LSNS

Bratislava, August 20 (TASR) – If a parliamentary election had been held in mid-August, Smer-SD would have come out on top with 20.8 percent of the votes, followed by the Progressive Slovakia-Together coalition on 14.9 percent and the far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia on 11.4 percent, according to a poll conducted by Focus agency on a sample of 1,010 respondents between August 13-19.

Fourth place would have been claimed by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 7.9 percent, followed by the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on 7.3 percent, the Slovak National Party (SNS) on 7 percent, We Are Family (6.6 percent) and OLaNO (6.1 percent). The last party to make it into Parliament above the required 5-percent threshold would have been the fledgling For the People (5.5 percent).

Remaining outside of Parliament would have been Most-Hid (4.3 percent) and the ethnic-Hungarian SMK (3.5 percent). Other parties would have garnered 4.7 percent in total.

In the House, Smer-SD would have won 36 seats, PS-Together 26 seats, LSNS 20, SaS 14, KDH and SNS 12 each, We Are Family 11, OLaNO ten and For the People nine.
