Posts about Election on Social Networks Don't Violate Moratorium

Bratislava, March 5 (TASR) – Publishing posts concerning the general election on social networks doesn’t mean a violation of the election moratorium, said chairman of the State Commission for Elections and Control of Political Parties’ Financing Eduard Barany on Saturday.
The moratorium will remain in effect until polling stations close at 10 p.m. on the same day.
According to Barany, the commission has dealt with this issue at its meetings, when it stated that the ban on publishing internet content after the end of the election campaign applies to all kinds of information and services that are usually paid for. “The criterion for what is and what isn’t permitted during the election moratorium is whether it is usually paid for,” added Barany.
This relates to the state commission’s stance that publishing posts via social networks for free isn’t considered to be election campaigning.
