Bratislava, September 11 (TASR) – If a presidential election had taken place late in August or at the beginning of September, Robert Mistrik and Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) would have made it to the second round, gaining 12 percent each, according to an AKO agency poll released on Tuesday.
Eduard Chmelar would have ended third on 10.8 percent of votes, followed by Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS) on 9.7 percent and Stefan Harabin on 8.8 percent. Next would have come Bela Bugar (Most-Hid) on 8.6 percent, Frantisek Miklosko on 7.1 percent, Zuzana Caputova on 6.9 percent. The top ten most popular presidential candidates would have also included Marian Kotleba (far-right LSNS party) and Igor Matovic (OLaNO), who would have garnered 4.6 percent and 4.7 percent (respectively). Milan Krajniak would have gained 4.4 percent of the votes.
Other candidates would have got support from less than 3 percent of voters. These would have been Martin Dano (2.7 percent), Marian Caucik (1.9 percent), Bohumila Tauchmanova (1.8 percent), Juraj Zabojnik (1.8 percent), Radovan Znasik (1.2 percent), Oskar Fegyveres (0.5 percent) and Robert Svec (0.5 percent).
The poll also showed that 2.6 percent of respondents wouldn’t have cast their votes in the election, 18.6 percent were undecided who to vote for and 0.5 percent of respondents refused to say who they supported. The poll was carried out on a sample of 1,000 people from August 30 to September 5.
