Abdykarimov: Slovak Pavilion at Astana EXPO Will Be Very Interesting
Bratislava, 25 April (TASR) – As many as 19 international institutions as well as 115 countries, Slovakia included, have already confirmed that they will participate in the international EXPO 2017 exposition due to take place in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana between June 10-September 10, TASR learnt on Tuesday.
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic and Slovakia Serzhan Abdykarimov, who came to the Slovak capital Bratislava earlier in the day to mark the 25th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries, praised the Slovak Government for appointing Patricia Zacikova as Slovakia’s General Commissioner at EXPO 2017.
“She’s addressing all matters in a very effective and operational way,” said Abdykarimov.
“I think that the Slovak pavilion will be among the most interesting in Astana,” said the ambassador, adding that Slovakia’s national day at EXPO 2017 will be on July 18.
Abdykarimov went on to say that he expects “large delegations of Slovak officials as well as representatives of Slovak business and culture” to attend the exposition. He noted that Kazakhstan has introduced 30-day visa-free visits for Slovaks this year. “We hope that this step will help to expand contacts between businessmen, ordinary people, and will also help in the area of tourism,” he said.
According to Abdykarimov, EXPO 2017 in Astana is expected to welcome five million visitors. As many as 3,000 events of various types, such as concerts, exhibitions, presentations and ministerial forums will take place over a three-month period in the capital of Kazakhstan.
The expo’s main theme is ‘Future Energy’, and it features the following sub-themes: reducing CO2 emissions, energy-efficient life and energy for everything.
