Alena Zs. Reportedly Communicated with Influential People
Bratislava, January 14 (TASR) – A woman identified due to legal reasons only as Alena Zs., charged with ordering the murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kusnirova communicated with several influential people over the past few years, including, for example, Prosecutor-General Deputy Rene Vanek, Parliamentary Vice-chair and member of the Smer-SD presidium Martin Glvac, MP and We Are Family leader Boris Kollar, Bratislava Governor Juraj Droba, and Parliamentary Chair Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS), Dennik N daily reported on Monday referring to information from the investigation of the case.
According to the daily, Alena Zs.’s communications with influential people were obtained by investigators after seizing her cell phone and computer. The charged woman archived the communications with these men and it’s possible she could also use them for blackmail.
Prosecutor-General Deputy Rene Vanek confirmed that he was contacted by an unknown woman through Messenger in 2013. As he further stated, they’ve been writing to each other “once in a while” about simple private things. The newspaper wrote that last time they wrote to each other was three days prior to the arrest of Alena Zs. on September 28, 2018.
According to Dennik N, Prosecutor General Jaromir Ciznar has already asked Vanek to provide an explanation. Ciznar will inform about his further steps in the matter on Tuesday (January 15). However, the Prosecutor General’s Office declares that Vanek hasn’t had any influence on the investigation of the murders of Kuciak and Kusnirova.
The accused woman reportedly also communicated with Parliamentary Vice-chair Martin Glvac. In addition to messages, they also allegedly sent pictures to each other. Alena Zs. reportedly talked about a conversation with him to the investigator. However, Glvac denies this communication. Alena Zs. was also in touch with We Are Family Chairman Boris Kollar. They were meeting each other about ten years ago, and according to the daily, Kollar financially helped her. The politician admitted the meetings immediately after Alena Zs. was detained.
Alena Zs. also said that Bratislava Governor Juraj Droba and Parliamentary Chair and SNS leader Andrej Danko were her friends. Droba says he did not meet her, but communicated with her only electronically. Danko denies any communication with Alena Zs., claiming that he’s never met or seen her.
Last year, communication also appeared between the charged woman and Daniel Lipsic – lawyer and former justice minister. He said it was a forgery and a smear campaign. According to Dennik N, the investigators haven’t found such communication yet.
