Ex-wife: Murdered Valko's Wallet Found on Scene of Alleged Robbery

Bratislava, February 3 (TASR) – Prominent lawyer Ernest Valko, who was killed allegedly by robbers in his villa in Limbach (Bratislava region) in 2010, didn’t have a strongbox at home, while his wallet remained on the scene, Valko’s former wife Olga Valkova told the police during a questioning earlier this week.

“The police believe that it was an armed robbery, my husband defended himself, so he was shot and killed. I was told this,” said Valkova.

“It’s too difficult to believe that such a person as Ernest Valko died in such unfortunate circumstances. The first thing it occurs to anyone is that he was the victim of someone who saw him as standing in his way,” said Valkova, adding that her former husband had fears of his life.

“He used to carry a gun … He used to say at times that his adversaries include people who are capable of anything,” said Valkova.

Police have pressed charges in the Valko case against two robbers identified by courts only as J.R and J.K. The offenders specialised in robbing rich individuals.

Valko was shot dead in his villa in Limbach (Bratislava region) on November 8, 2010. He was killed by a single gunshot to the heart and lungs fired from several metres away.
