Prosecutor-General's Office Demands Stricter Sentence for Acorda's Killer

Bratislava, May 24 (TASR) – The Prosecutor-General’s Office has ordered a Bratislava prosecutor to file an appeal in the case of the killing of Filipino national Henry Acorda, TASR learnt on Friday from the office’s spokesperson Andrea Predajnova.

Juraj H., charged with killing the Filipino, was sentenced on May 14 by a senate of a Bratislava regional court to six years in a minimum security prison without parole.

“The Prosecutor-General’s Office has examined the criminal case and ordered a Bratislava prosecutor to submit an appeal against the sentence due to the fact that a stricter punishment wasn’t imposed,” said Predajnova.

Acorda, 36, who worked for an IT company in Bratislava, was attacked in the centre of Bratislava on the night of May 26, 2018 by Juraj H. when he attempted to put a stop to the harassment of his two female colleagues. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital five days later.
