Fico Opens 'Slovak Field Days' Farming Exhibition
Dvory nad Zitavou, June 6 (TASR) – People working in agriculture are doing a lot for Slovakia, and they deserve respect for this, said Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) when opening the Sixth Slovak Field Days in Dvory nad Zitavou (Nitra region) on Tuesday.
The two-day exhibition featuring 120 exhibitors is designed to present various ways of protecting and providing nutrition to plants and to showcase farming equipment and livestock.
“This is the sixth year I’ve come here, while I also go to harvests every year. I always find a piece of Slovakia along with the Agriculture Minister [currently Gabriela Matecna, a Slovak National Party (SNS) nominee] in order to pay my respects to these people who are doing an incredible amount for this country. It’s also our duty in 2017 to display our estimation and respect for people working in the countryside and in agriculture, whether it’s at harvest time or at events like this,” said Fico.
A seminar organised by the Slovak Agricultural University (SPU) in Nitra is also taking place as part of an exhibition to discuss soil compaction and ways of eliminating this.
