Foreign Students to Improve Their Slovak at Summer University
Bratislava July 4 (TASR) – Students from the United States, Vietnam, South Korea, Mexico and Ukraine will improve their Slovak language skills and explore Slovak culture and history over the next three weeks, with the Summer University of the Slovak Language and Culture for Foreigners opening on Monday, TASR learnt on the same day.
Lecturers of the Slovak language will teach around 90 foreigners from 20 different countries until July 22.
Apart from intensive language education, the students will expand their knowledge of Slovak linguistics, literature, history and culture. The courses will be accompanied by conversation classes, workshops and specialised seminars.
The foreign students will also visit Slovak museums, galleries and tourism sights and meet prominent personalities from the field of Slovak science and culture.
“For the first time we also have participants from Argentina who have declared Slovak origin. They want to learnt Slovak in order to strengthen the Slovak community in their own country,” Centre for Continuing Education director Janka Chladecka told TASR.
“I hope that the Summer University will broaden students’ skills not only in the Slovak language, but also in the history and culture of Slovakia and the Slovaks,” added Chladecka.
