Lajcak Receives Credentials from New Brazilian Ambassador Carneiro

Bratislava, February 22 (TASR) – Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak on Wednesday received copies of the credentials of newly appointed Brazilian Ambassador to Slovakia Luis Antonio Balduin Carneiro, who has replaced Susan Kleebank, the Slovak ministry’s press department told TASR on the same day.

Lajcak highlighted his country’s interest in intensifying relations with Brazil, which is Slovakia’s 26th largest export partner and a significant investor in Slovakia. The minister further said that he believes that the new ambassador’s experience in business will contribute to continued success in current cooperation.

Apart from cooperation in business, Slovakia is also interested in nurturing a political dialogue with Brazil, which should be further bolstered by the planned visit of Prime Minister Robert Fico to Brasilia later this year.

An economist and diplomat with experience from a number of international organisations, new ambassador Carneiro holds a diploma in sociology from the University of Brasilia. Before being appointed as ambassador to Slovakia, he served at his country’s embassies in India and the USA, and at a mission in Geneva.
