Industrial Production Up 1.6 percent Y-o-Y in January 2016
Bratislava, March 11 (TASR) – Industrial production increased by 1.6 percent year-on-year in January 2016, the Slovak Statistics Office announced on Friday.
This development was influenced by growth in manufacturing of 2.7 percent; by a drop in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supplies of 3.5 percent; and by a fall in mining and quarrying of 11.3 percent.
The increase in total industrial production was affected by growth in the following sectors: in the manufacture of transport vehicles – 8.4 percent; in the production of electrical devices – 17 percent; in the production of metals and metal construction, excluding machinery and equipment – 3.7 percent, in the production of computing, electronic and optical products – 7.1 percent; and in other manufacturing, repairs and installation of machinery and equipment – 6.9 percent.
Drops in total production were recorded in the following sectors: in the production of rubber, plastics and other non-metallic mineral products – 12.2 percent; in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supplies – 3.5 percent; in other non-classified production of machinery and devices – 3 percent; in mining and quarrying – 11.3 percent; and in the production of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco products – 3.1 percent.
Seasonally adjusted industrial production went down by 1.2 percent month-on-month in January.
