Janice Electoral Commission Head Dies Half Hour Before Election

Janice, March 16 (TASR) – In the village of Janice (Banska Bystrica region), the chairman of local electoral commission died half an hour prior to the opening of the polling station, TASR learnt from village mayor Marta Martinovicsova on Saturday.

“Unfortunately, the tragic event occurred about 6.30 a.m. He didn’t pass away in the polling station, however, but at the office of local authority,” claimed Martinovicsova, adding that it wasn’t thus necessary to change the polling station and the election is held in Janice without interruptions.

The death of electoral commission chairman was confirmed also by commission minutes clerk Lukas Kvietok, who added that it had no bearing on the election, as the replacement chair was elected.
