Kalavska: Bratislava University Hospital to Get €30mn for Reconstruction
Bratislava, May 29 (TASR) – As much as €15 million will be allocated for the reconstruction of Bratislava University Hospital (UNB), while another €15 million will be designated for purchasing hospital equipment, stated Health Minister Andrea Kalavska (a Smer-SD nominee) at a briefing on Tuesday with Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) in attendance.
“I’ve had the opportunity to walk through the construction site of an admissions ward personally. People with their problems will be admitted into modern premises and won’t wait in sad corridors that have had a scary effect when someone enters hospital,” said Pellegrini at Ladislav Derer Hospital in Bratislava’s borough of Kramare, which forms part of UNB.
“We have to realise that good equipment and good facilities are important not only for patients but also for staff,” he added.
UNB is made up of five facilities located throughout Bratislava – Ruzinov Hospital, Old Town Hospital, Sts. Cyril and Methodius Hospital in Petrzalka, Ladislav Derer Hospital in Kramare and the Specialised Geriatric Hospital in Podunajske Biskupice.
The admissions wards in the hospitals in Ruzinov, Kramare and Petrzalka will be reconstructed, while most of the reconstruction work will be carried out at Kramare hospital, including on the intensive care unit, the neonatal and neurology departments and the operating theatres.
Regarding new hospital equipment, the investments should go into the purchase of new computers, vital function monitors, three CT devices, incubators, 24 X-ray and C-arms machines, operating tables, anaesthesia devices and a surgical microscope.
