Kiska Calls Slovak Soldiers Abroad, Wishes Them Peaceful Christmas

Bratislava, December 20 (TASR) – President Andrej Kiska, who is also commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, got in touch on Wednesday with Slovak soldiers, who, as members of international missions, will spend the upcoming Christmas holidays abroad.

Kiska wished the soldiers a Merry Christmas, even though they’ll spend it far from home. He spoke to the commanders of individual contingents in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cyprus. The president wanted to know whether Slovak soldiers abroad will manage to observe traditional Slovak Christmas customs, how they will celebrate the holidays and whether they’ll be able get in touch with their families, at least by means of social networks or telephone.

The highest number of Slovak soldiers abroad are currently stationed in Cyprus, where there are almost 200 of them.
