Kiska Visits Mondi SCP, Discusses Papermill's and Liptov's Prospects
Ruzomberok, March 13 (TASR) – The papermill Mondi SCP in Ruzomberok (Zilina region) regards resolving the region’s difficult situation in transportation as key to improving the investment environment in the surrounding Lower Liptov area, Mondi SCP board chairman Miloslav Curilla said after meeting President Andrej Kiska at the plant on Monday.
“We talked a lot about future prospects and about installing additional top-of-the-line machinery here which would give jobs to more people. Mondi is an employer that has regard for its staff and aims for considerable improvements to the environment, which used to be very bad. I’m happy about the collaboration with universities and a local polytechnical school and about the fact that university-educated people make up a large proportion of the employees, which also augurs well for this region,” said Kiska.
The plant’s representatives briefed Kiska on the papermill’s past, its current technological equipment and the cost of modernisations. The head of state took a tour of the plant and saw for himself the fastest paper-making machinery of its kind in the world.
“Our discussions also involved environmental topics. Having previously travelled through Ruzomberok a lot, the president has fresh memories of somewhat sadder times from the town’s history. He noted himself that we’ve made great strides here,” said Curilla.
