Matecna: Nearly 80 Vocational Schools to Be Given over €50 mn for Modernisation
Bratislava, February 15 (TASR) – Almost 80 secondary vocational schools will be given more than €50 million to modernise the material and technical equipment of workspaces and halls of residence, to restore premises and to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, Deputy PM and Agriculture Minister Gabriela Matecna (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) said at a press conference on Thursday, with head of the ministry’s regional development programmes department Marek Mitosinka in attendance.
The Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry evaluated the applications from the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP) aimed at increasing the number of pupils involved in practical education.
“As of today, we’ll support 77 vocational schools, which will receive more than €50 million for their technical equipment. These schools are located throughout Slovakia. The money will be spent on the material and technical equipment of workspaces, the reconstruction of premises and in increasing the energy efficiency of buildings. This amount isn’t final, we’re evaluating the second and third round, with an additional allocation of almost €50 million. The entire call totals €100 million,” said Matecna.
Mitosinka said that the most supported projects involved the material and technical equipment of workspaces, such as workshops, changing rooms, sanitary facilities, modern measuring devices for students, computer technology, air conditioning and lighting.
