Matovic: Cabinet Arrangement Agreed, Sulik Will Be First Deputy PM
Bratislava, March 13 (TASR) – OLaNO, We Are Family, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and For the People have agreed on the arrangement of the new cabinet, announced OLaNO leader and future Prime Minister Igor Matovic on Friday.
The Finance Ministry will be given to OLaNO, while SaS chief Richard Sulik will be the First Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy and Economy Minister.
Matovic declined to reveal any further names from the new cabinet, noting that he’d like to present them to President Zuzana Caputova first.
The OLaNO leader conceded that the talks were speeded up by the spread of coronavirus in Slovakia. He revealed that OLaNO has yielded one of eight ministerial spots indicated for the party earlier, to SaS, which will thus have three ministries.
“We’ve reached an agreement – they’ve made a concession, we’ve made a concession, Boris Kollar [We Are Family] has made a concession,” said Sulik, adding that SaS will also be given the post of chairman in the parliamentary finance committee to be occupied by its MP Marian Viskupic.
“I’m satisfied for SaS, and as far as I know, the other partners are also satisfied. We’re now going to draw up the government manifesto,” said Sulik.
Kollar said that the concessions were partly motivated by the need to “help the people as soon as possible” amid the coronavirus spread.
For the People’s Veronika Remisova said that her party has managed to push through two priorities, without being more specific.
President Zuzana Caputova will receive leading figures of the four parties at the Presidential Palace on Saturday, TASR was told by Caputova’s spokesman Martin Strizinec later on Friday.
