Median Poll: Caputova, Sefcovic and Mistrik Top Three Presidential Candidates
Bratislava, February 26 (TASR) – If a presidential election had been held in February, the highest number of people would have voted for Zuzana Caputova (23.5 percent), according to the results of a public opinion poll carried out by Median SK polling agency.
The poll was carried out on a sample of 1,002 respondents between February 11-23.
Maros Sefcovic would have finished second on 20.5 percent, while Robert Mistrik, who gave up his candidacy on Tuesday, would have garnered 15 percent.
The top three candidates would have been followed by Stefan Harabin, who would have been backed by 10.5 percent of the respondents. Far-right LSNS party chair Marian Kotleba would come fifth on 7.5 percent, with Most-Hid leader Bela Bugar on 6.5 percent, Milan Krajniak on 5.5 percent and Frantisek Miklosko on 5 percent.
Less than 5 percent would have gone to Eduard Chmelar (3 percent) and to Martin Dano and Robert Svec (1 percent each).
Under 1 percent would have supported Juraj Zabojnik (0.5 percent), while Bohumila Tauchmannova and Ivan Zuzula were on less than 0.1 percent.
Less than a month ahead of the presidential election 55 percent of respondents would definitely have voted, while 25 percent were still undecided. Just under two out of five respondents (37 percent) were certain whom to vote for, while 42 percent were almost decided and 20 percent hadn’t decided yet.
The first round of the presidential election will be held on March 16, with a possible second round, if the head of state isn’t elected in the first one, slated to take place on March 30.
