Pellegrini: Slovakia and Latvia Similar in Many Respects
Riga, November 29 (TASR) – Slovakia and Latvia share many similar traits, including historical experience, Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD), who’s currently on a visit to the Baltic country, stated on Friday after meeting his Latvian counterpart Arturs Krisjanis Karins, explaining that while Slovakia celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution this year, Latvia celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Baltic Way.
The two premiers discussed, among other things, the EU. Pellegrini called on small countries such as Slovakia and Latvia to talk about their visions on Europe. Pellegrini also met Latvian President Egils Levits.
The Slovak prime minister is set to visit the Slovak soldiers stationed at the military base in Adazi in the afternoon. There are 152 Slovak soldiers in Latvia, serving within the framework of NATO. It’s the largest Slovak military mission abroad. Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdos (Slovak National Party/SNS) is also a member of the Slovak delegation.
Pellegrini invited both the Latvian premier and president for a visit to Slovakia. He should return on Friday.
