Bratislava, June 13 (TASR) – Coalition parties Smer-SD, the Slovak National Party (SNS), Most-Hid and Siet (Network) fully trust Interior Minister Robert Kalinak, said Prime Minister Robert Fico after a three-hour session of the Coalition Council on Monday.
“The interior minister has submitted documents that disprove allegations made by the Opposition. Kalinak has informed the council that he’ll present these documents to the media and public today,” noted Fico.
Fico expects the investigating authorities to examine the extent of tax fraud in the so-called Basternak case – with which the Opposition has linked Kalinak – thoroughly and as quickly as possible. They should inform the public about the process as well as the results of the investigation.
The coalition was also disconcerted by the fact that Filip Rybanic, an assistant to Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Jozef Rajtar and an employee of Tatra banka, intentionally violated bank secrecy and provided the media and Opposition with information that has been largely distorted and abused for the sake of a political confrontation with a high-ranking official.
