Most-Hid Won't Back LSNS Representatives in Senior Committee Posts

Bratislava, April 1 (TASR) – Governing Most-Hid party MPs will not support the election of MPs representing Marian Kotleba’s far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) to senior posts on parliamentary committees, TASR learnt from Most-Hid caucus head Gabor Gal on Friday.

“The Most-Hid party finds it unacceptable that people with extremist opinions should hold senior committee posts. This is a problem caused by Opposition parties when they offered them these posts at negotiations on representation in committees,” explained Gal.

Most-Hid respects the fact that voters have elected LSNS to the House, but it rejects the party’s politics. “It principally contradicts our values and positions. Our goal is to point to and remind people of the danger that unambiguously stems from supporting parties like this and extremism,” stated Gal.

According to Gal, all parliamentary parties that care about democracy and the protection of human rights should point to these risks and should not imitate the rhetoric of LSNS representatives.
