Pellegrini: New Coalition Capable of Shattering Itself, No Need to Help It

Bratislava, March 5 (TASR) – Outgoing Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) stated on Thursday that he doesn’t believe that the future governing coalition, which is currently being formed, can last the entire electoral term.

According to him, the coherency of the OLaNO caucus represents the biggest threat to the coalition. “Take a look at that diverse group of people that we’ll see for the first time. There are artists, athletes, sellers of sports accessories, priests. There aren’t enough lawyers, economists. It’s a rather strange caucus,” stated Pellegrini.

When asked whether Smer-SD will attempt to create division and confrontation within the newly forming coalition, Pellegrini replied that there’s no need to do so. He stated that OLaNO has never managed to maintain the coherency of its caucus throughout a single electoral term, and he’s of the opinion that history will repeat itself.

Pellegrini has a similar opinion when it comes to the coalition as a whole. “For a while they’ll be held together by the euphoria that they are experiencing, but in the end they are capable of shattering themselves,” he said.
