Sulik: Kovac Protected Slovakia So It Wouldn't End up Like Belarus

Bratislava, October 13 (TASR) – Opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) leader Richard Sulik on Thursday said that he will remember first Slovak president Michal Kovac as the only person from that period who protected Slovakia so that it wouldn’t end up like Belarus.

Sulik said that he didn’t get to know Kovac in person that well but they met on multiple occasions and talked. He said that SaS will support the proposal of OLaNO-NOVA MP Jan Budaj to scrap Meciar’s amnesties [for those accused of kidnapping Kovac’s son in 1996 – ed. note].
